Everything on this site — index readings, strength classifications, analog comparisons, regional tendencies, timelines — is provided for informational and educational purposes. Nino34 is not an official NOAA forecast product, and it is not affiliated with NOAA, the Climate Prediction Center, or IRI. Nothing on this site is an official watch, warning, or advisory.

For safety decisions, use official sources

For any decision involving safety — flooding, storms, drought response, evacuation, or anything else where being wrong has real consequences — rely on official NOAA, CPC, and National Weather Service sources, plus your local emergency management agency, not on this site. We link to CPC's ENSO Diagnostic Discussion and CPC's home page throughout the site for exactly this reason.

Data accuracy

We build every figure on this site from publicly published NOAA/CPC and IRI data, processed through the rules documented on our Methodology page, with sources listed on the Sources page. We make a genuine, best-effort attempt to keep that data accurate and current, including flagging staleness on the page when a source runs behind schedule. But this is a best-effort, not a warranty — always cross-check anything decision-critical against the original NOAA/CPC source directly.

External and affiliate links

This site links out to external sources, including official NOAA/CPC/IRI pages and, in some places, affiliate links, which are disclosed as such in line with FTC guidelines wherever they appear. A link — affiliate or otherwise — is not an endorsement of the accuracy, availability, or content of the destination site, and we aren't responsible for external sites' content or how it changes after we link to it.
